Give us a kiss

Yep, it's a pretty Grimm prospect

I'm guessing you don't find the idea of kissing toads all that appealing1 To be fair, even the Brothers Grimm didn't ask the princess to kiss the toad: they recommended throwing it against the wall, but that spoils my metaphor. I'm sticking with the Disney version because it has similarities to finding and converting customers. You might have to kiss a lot of toads before you find the handsome prince.

And that's where I can help.

I've been doing this marketing stuff for enough years to justify the grey hair. I've put this website together to show you how I tend to think a little differently, and age hasn't dried up the ideas.

Stick around and I'll show you what I mean...

Strategy

Your customer deliverable and your marketing should be completely interlocked. Sometimes changing your product or service can do more for your business than any publicity campaign. That's not as frightening as it sounds; it might be a minor tweak to how you describe it, but it's often identifying an opportunity that you hadn't spotted.

Who's that behind the mask?

Branding isn't just a company name and a pretty logo. It's about fitting your marketplace. It's about understanding your target customers and maximising the things that mean the most to them. It can be about the things you do and the way you behave. Could you draw Dyson's logo? Right now, nor could I, but I recognise a Dyson product and automatically expect innovation. Your brand should show your personality, not hide it behind a mask.

Let's have strong words

I love writing. I love it enough that I've written four books, including an Amazon top ten and a Christmas number one. That's not entirely relevant here, but I never miss a chance to brag about it. But it also means I turn out seriously persuasive video and presentation scripts, marketing copy and anything else that needs the right words to produce the result you need.

Presenting yourself

PowerPoint is a great tool, but it's not always the right one. Its main raison d'etre is to support you as you present your proposition in person. If you regularly email them, then you're probably using the wrong medium.

And when it is the right tool, are you using it to its full power? Either way, I can help.

A well-made video is almost as persuasive as you being there in person. I'm not talking about yet another $49 explainer that can be knocked together in an afternoon - and looks it. As for AI, it's getting better but it tends to make everything look the same. That's not to say I'm against AI, as long as it's kept in its place and properly controlled. I use the best and most appropriate tools to script, structure and produce videos that persuade.

No company for old men?

Let's face it, I'm hardly a young, six foot poster boy; I'm more of an old, short bloke who's learned quite a lot about marketing. I cut my teeth in an age when Ogilvy on Marketing was required reading for new boys. It might surprise you how many of the great man's principles are still current today, but the world has moved on, and you don't need to be Gen Z to know that. Technology has changed everything, and the pace of that change is accelerating. Human nature has barely changed at all, and that's where an experienced but agile mind has a distinct advantage.
